The Missouri Professional Training Partnership is a group of dedicated communications professionals in Missouri who have banded together to provide quality low-to-no cost state-certified training to centers across Missouri.

Missouri Statute requires telecommunicators to obtain a certain number of state-certified basic training hours within the first year of employment? The specific number is based on what type of center they work for – either Law Enforcement only, Fire only, EMS only or a Joint Communications Center. Beyond that, Missouri Law also requires that all telecommunicators across the state obtain at least 24 hours of continuing education during a three year counting period. The enforcement of this statute is overseen by the Missouri 9-1-1 Service Board.

We know that not all agencies have the funding to support this training requirement and that is where we come in!

About the Partnership

Formed in 2004 by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Communications Division and members of the Missouri Chapter of APCO, the Partnership has been a staple in providing low-to-no cost Missouri certified initial and continuing education to Public-Safety Communications professionals throughout the state. The Partnership now boasts 21 instructors across the state.

Online Training

Due to safety measures put into place at numerous agencies, onsite training pretty much ended in early 2020. As December 31, 2020 ended the three-year counting period to obtain continuing education hours as required by Missouri Law, the Partnership sought out an alternative method to offer quality training to centers across Missouri.

Starting in September 2020, the Partnership began to offer webinar style training to our peers across the state and at no cost to them! But why stop there? In addition to providing this quality training to Missouri, we also opened it up to our peers across the country! With that being said, we made sure that they knew we could not guarantee that our training would be recognized by their state.
