Missouri APCO Recognizes Knudsen and Whittington of the Lebanon Police Department as Teammates in Action!

Missouri APCO President Dykes poses with Lebanon P.D. Dispatchers Whittington and Knudsen during a Teammates in Action recognition ceremony.

The Missouri Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials is pleased to recognize Dispatcher and Communications Training Officer Cheyenne Knudsen and Dispatcher Cynthia Whittington of the Lebanon Police Department as Teammates in Action!

On March 15, 2024, Lebanon Police Officers were assisting another agency in when a male subject crashed his vehicle on I-44 and then fled on foot. While fleeing, the subject turned around and began shooting at the Lebanon Officer who in turn returned fire. No injuries to the Officer or the subject were sustained and the subject was taken into custody and transported to the local jail.

This was the first time that these two dispatchers had worked together on the same shift. Throughout the event, they worked well together with one dispatcher handling radio traffic and logging information into the agency’s Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system while the other handled call-taking tasks and additional duties that were being requested by responding officers. During the event, the team contacted Communications Director Moore to inform her of the incident and she also responded to assist.

Due to their ability to work together effectively and handle a very difficult incident, the Missouri Chapter of APCO is pleased to recognize them as Missouri Teammates in Action!
